Philip Matthews is a senior writer based in Stuff's Christchurch office.

He writes features and editorials and recently wrote and narrated the well-received earthquake video series 'Munted', in collaboration with Charlie Gates. He and Charlie are now working on further video projects for Stuff. Philip joined the Press in 2007. Prior to that, he was a feature writer and an arts and books editor with the NZ Listener magazine. He co-wrote a history of New Zealand comedy, 'Funny As' (2019).
