Mike Mather is a senior journalist at Stuff and the Waikato Times, with more than 25 years experience as a reporter, chief reporter and news editor.

Born in Tauranga, he has worked at numerous publications including The Daily Post, the Whakatane Beacon, and the Howick and Pakuranga Times in a range of roles. Currently he is the civic affairs and arts and entertainment reporter in Waikato. He is also a wannabe author and artist, dedicated single dad, avid comic book reader, and enjoys boring friends and family with lengthy conversations about bands like Modest Mouse, The Clash, Gorillaz and Talking Heads.
