Denise Piper has 18 years’ experience, including more than 10 years' reporting in Te Tai Tokerau.

She has been Stuff’s Northland senior journalist since April 2019, with her coverage including the trial of New Zealand’s biggest meth bust on Ninety Mile Beach, the summer 2020 drought and the Northland underage sex case. She previously won international acclaim for her reporting on Government underfunding of scripts, while working as a senior journalist, then editor, for specialist health publication Pharmacy Today.
